Before he wanted to become a candidate for chancellor, Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) always said that his place was in Bavaria. Now that he has lost to Armin Laschet (CDU), Söder can rule out a move to Berlin after the federal election. He does not want to change as a possible super minister in a conceivable cabinet of Laschet, said the CSU politician in the "Bild" talk "The right questions". "The post is already occupied by Friedrich Merz," said Söder in response to a question with a slightly ironic undertone.

Söder expects a neck and neck race between the Union and the Greens for the federal election.

The SPD would "of course get over ten percent," he said.

"I would not have thought that the Greens are now so far ahead of us," he said, referring to the current survey results, which the Greens see, in some cases, clearly ahead of the Union.

Nevertheless, he ruled out a change of candidate in the Union.

"Armin Laschet is nominated, Armin Laschet is the candidate," said Söder.

He responded with irony to the request of the CDU politician Friedrich Merz that the CSU should win at least 40 percent in the federal election: “I am totally grateful that Friedrich Merz is helping us with this.

His experience, especially from the 1990s, which he had as an active politician at the time, will certainly help us. "

Söder thinks lockdown beyond June is possible

In terms of corona policy, Söder considers an extension of the lockdown beyond June to be possible.

»The pandemic fight on the legal basis of the emergency brake continues until June 30th.

Then we'll see what the overall situation is, ”he said.

"Just because a law ends, Corona is not over." Even if the third wave seems to be under control, one should not be mistaken: "We are not quite over the mountain yet."

Söder demanded more speed, for example with the creation of a digital vaccination certificate.

»Every time it comes to digital options, we need longer, even though we are a super technology country.

With us, the train is always ten minutes late. "

Söder referred to the responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Health, which is working flat out on the subject.

This is "not a reproach, just a statement."

Söder gave the students in Germany hope for better times.

The next school year will be a completely different school year.

For this, there had to be "en masse school vaccination campaigns with closed group vaccinations" with the now approved vaccine from 12 years of age before school starts.
