The meeting of Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Talal Al-Barazi with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Homs and representatives from the Chambers of Agriculture and the Craftsmen Union focused on the pricing mechanism according to the articles and clauses of Legislative Decree No. 8.

Al-Barazi emphasized that the legislative decree No. 8 of the current year guarantees the protection of both the consumer and the merchant by organizing economic and commercial relations and controlling the markets.

Al-Barazi gave a detailed explanation about the penalties and benefits of the decree, the role of the ration police directorates and elements, the administrative units and the police, and emphasized the participatory role of the ministries of local administration, interior and justice to protect consumers and control markets and prices.

The head of the Homs Chamber of Agriculture, “Ahmed Kaser Al-Ali,” pointed out the need to consider the price of chicken and re-study the transport prices in addition to looking at the status of the country’s 47 units, which cannot make a commercial register and the need for a profit margin for selling basic materials such as oil, sugar and ghee.

The head of the Homs Chamber of Industry, “Labib Al-Ikhwan” considered that competition is the best solution to lowering prices, and it is very feasible and effective, pointing out to Decree No. 8, a necessity that must be explained by the mechanism of its application for all segments of society.

Muhammad Samer Al-Safwa, the treasurer of the Homs Chamber of Commerce, referred to the efforts made by the Chamber of Commerce to enhance the economic movement and to explain the mechanism for implementing Legislative Decree No. 8 and the necessity for commercial and economic actors to implement its provisions to protect both the consumer and the producer.

In addition, the Homs Chamber of Commerce honored a number of wounded Syrian Arab Army and merchants who contributed to the Good People initiative launched by the Chamber.
