At least 35 fires have broken out in recent days in the Gaza Envelope, and residents fear a return to the days when the green area turned black.

Balloon terrorism has returned to the agricultural fields and settlements in the envelope after almost a year without incendiary balloons and explosive balloons, and residents are worried.

"We returned to the routine of fires after a break, it is very disturbing," says Maayan Shneur Fuld of Kibbutz Netiv HaAsara.

"We are in early summer, the whole area around us is burning and on fire, from every vantage point in the area we see fires. We are afraid to go back to the days when we would run from fire to fire."

Schneur added that there was a fear of rocket fire, describing that "all night there were explosions that came from the fence area. We expect an appropriate response, we are not ready to go back to rocket songs and the balloon terror does not get a response."

"It is not pleasant to see a field of wheat grown in love being burned."

Rafi Babian (Photo: Yanir Yagna)

Yesterday, an incendiary balloon led to the burning of a wheat field near Kibbutz Alumim.

Rafi Babian, Chief of Staff of the Sdot Negev Council, came to put out the fire. "It is not pleasant to see an area of wheat sown in tears and a size lovingly burned.

There was a one-year hiatus in balloon terrorism and now it is missing.

"It seems that when they want to, they know how to control the height of the flames," he said.

Babian went on to describe that "it is terrorism that the results can be seen.

In recent years they have managed to burn quite a bit.

There are deployments of security and firefighting forces in the area, including Rabshakehs that are planned and prepared for any scenario of a fire. The fires are returning. "

"The time has come that instead of putting out fires, they will not be at all."

Meirav Cohen (Photo: Yanir Yagna)

Meirav Cohen of the Eshkol Regional Council demands a sharp response to the balloon terrorism, which she says not only harms the livelihoods of farmers but also the morale of the residents of the envelope.

"It used to be said that a balloon is like a rocket, so the equation works - you do nothing about the balloons and nothing about the rockets," she said.

"It is terrorism for everything and it is rampant, it is our land and our livelihood in the area. The fires are hurting us both economically and morally."

According to Cohen, the state is not doing enough to prevent the invasion of its sovereign territory.

"Balloon terrorism has been going on in the envelope for years, and the only response the state is doing is to send soldiers to put out the fire, it's absurd," she said.

"There is a chance that the Gaza Strip will turn black again. It is time that instead of putting out fires, they will not be at all."
