BRK district chief Albert Söhl warns of a premature dissolution of the vaccination centers in Germany.

However, he mentions a possible time for the closure.

  • Medical spokesman and BRK head of the Freising district speak out against the premature closure of vaccination centers.

  • However, the BRK boss names a period of time when it could become concrete with the closure of the vaccination center.

  • District office draws a positive balance on the current vaccination status in the district - and explains why it took longer for the first two priority groups.

Freising

- BRK district chief Albert Söhl warns of a premature dissolution of the vaccination centers in Germany.

It is still too early for closings.

But he could imagine that it would be so far in late summer.

The history: In the struggle for the best vaccination strategy, more and more politicians and medical representatives spoke out in favor of an early end to the vaccination centers - among other things, because family doctors could vaccinate more effectively and faster.

Georg Miedl, medical spokesman in Freising, has a different opinion.

If the vaccination centers were to be closed now, that would be "just as wrong in terms of timing as the late involvement of the doctors" in the corona vaccination process.

Due to the "very good cooperation between the vaccination center and medical practices", the Freising district has an "excellent vaccination service".

BRK boss: "It's going really well now"

Söhl from the BRK sees it the same way.

The Red Cross runs the vaccination center together with the Johannitern.

General practitioners and the vaccination center would support each other “super”.

"It's going really well now."

This is also expressed in numbers: 4500 vaccinations were carried out at the vaccination center in the past week.

Apart from special promotions, this is the highest level to date.

“A little more would be possible,” says Söhl.

“The times would have to be extended a bit here.” According to a press release, the district office actually expects increasing amounts of vaccine.

"Everything else stirs up uncertainty"

The numbers of doctors are also remarkable: Miedl reported that on Wednesday alone 1238 first vaccinations and 147 second vaccinations were carried out by general practitioners.

Since practices are usually closed on Wednesdays in the afternoon, vaccinations are particularly high during this time.

All in all, family doctors in the district get around 2500 vaccinations per week, says Miedl: "Regardless of whether vaccination centers or doctors - we all work at full speed."

And so, says Söhl, it would be wrong to change something at the moment.

Also for logistical reasons.

Because quite a few people who were taken care of by the vaccination center are still waiting for the second injection.

“And it should be in the same place.

Everything else stirs up uncertainty. "

BRK boss has time in his head for the closure of the vaccination center

Currently, only the functioning interaction between centers and practices guarantees seamless care for those willing to be vaccinated.

Just as bedridden people can only be vaccinated by general practitioners, there are also people who do not have a general practitioner at all, Söhl explains: "We are the right address."

Nevertheless, the BRK chief does not see it as an affront to discuss the dissolution of vaccination centers.

“It's important to think about it,” he says - and already has a point in time in his head.

“I could well imagine that we will phase out the operation in August or September.” He reckons that a large number of those willing to be vaccinated have been taken care of by now.

Logging out of BayIMCO causes problems

Söhl's appeal to the Freisinger: Anyone who has received an initial vaccination against Corona from a family doctor or any other opportunity should unsubscribe immediately from the BayIMCO registration portal.

Because the number of people who do not respond to invitations to vaccination appointments via the online platform would increase significantly.

This would not slow down the vaccination rate because you always have to fill open appointments in good time.

"But it adds a certain amount of additional organizational effort."

However, there is also a problem with deregistering on BayIMCO, as the BRK boss confirms: If someone wanted to close their account there, everyone who was registered using the same e-mail address would also be removed from the system.

Söhl: "We are in the process of solving this IT problem."

"We have achieved a large share"

In the district's vaccination center, some people from prioritization group 2, but also from group 3, are currently being vaccinated.

The fact that it took comparatively longer with older citizens in the Freising district is due to the special registration strategy.

The district office had invited all those affected over 75 years of age who have little or no internet affinity to the vaccination appointment by post.

Nobody should slip through the grid of digital registration.

"In this way we have reached a very large proportion of this age group," emphasized Petz.

Around 10,000 of around 15,000 over 75-year-olds from the district thus benefited from a vaccination.
