The current signature campaign of a citizens' initiative against the radio mast location in the Mauggen industrial park caused discussions and also resentment in the Bockhorn municipal council. Mayor Lorenz Angermaier (FW / Bürgerliste Kirchasch) was annoyed that the signature collectors "sometimes claim things that are simply wrong or not verifiable at all, just to get people to sign for their campaign".

Bockhorn - Hubert Strasser (Kirchasch citizen list) has had similar experiences: "They go to people's front doors, ask if they don't want to make phone calls in the future and get a signature with such simple slogans". Peter Feller (Grünbacher List) added: “The fact that the mobile communications provider Vodafone will soon be installing a radio mast near Kirchasch, for example, has nothing to do with the fact that they want to supply the town. You are only fulfilling the Federal Network Agency's mandate to cover a certain section of State Road 2084 with mobile communications.

Feller is certain “that Telekom will not go to any other location than Mauggen”. Angermaier also sees it this way: “There is no real alternative location in the entire municipality because there is no operator interested in it. In addition, no company can be forced to lay a power line of any length to any location. ”Incidentally, this signature campaign shows that they are not really working carefully, says Mayor Angermaier:“ It names February 18th as the date for our municipal council resolution , but it was February 25th. "

Thomas Fisch (FW) found it a shame that, due to the corona pandemic, there was no way to seriously inform citizens about what was actually happening at a public appointment.

“Obviously some in the church aren't really well informed.

We might have to add more. "

If ten percent of the electorate take part in the signature campaign, the initiative could call for a referendum.

Then, in theory, a new vote on the location for the radio mast would be possible.
