The city center of Geretsried is developing at a rapid pace.

After completion of the Karl-Lederer-Platz, the Egerlandstrasse has been under construction for a year.

Excavators and construction cranes will continue to dominate the New Center.

Geretsried - The proud sum of around 100 million euros was and is currently being invested in the New Center.

According to Mayor Michael Müller, this includes the completed projects on Karl-Lederer-Platz and the current projects on Egerlandstrasse.

"In addition, there are various other projects that are emerging in the New Center, in different forms and stages of development," added the town hall chief when asked by our newspaper.

Some of this is currently still in the hands of the project sponsors "and we therefore do not comment publicly".

At Karl-Lederer-Platz it should continue on the north side

Other things are already known and have already been dealt with in the first steps in the responsible committees: For example, the structural development on the north side of Karl-Lederer-Platz.

As reported, the owners of buildings 7, 7a and 5 want to join the center development.

For this reason, the development and planning committee commissioned Kehrbaum Architects in June 2020 to create a master plan for this area.

"Including a recommendation to the city council to adapt the construction control procedure," said Müller.

"The aim is to deal with this topic again in one of the upcoming meetings."

As a city, we can also imagine leisure and entertainment options, for example a cinema or bars and pubs.

Mayor Michael Müller

There is also movement on Egerlandstrasse, and not only on the large construction site: the building and environmental committee has given the municipal approval for a building application in the northern area. An old house is to be demolished at number 84 and an apartment building with an underground car park is to be built. There will also be further changes to the south. According to the town hall chief, the owners of the building at Egerlandstrasse 57 are also planning a new building. “The notice of cancellation has now been received by the city administration. If we receive more specific information on this - usually a building application - we will also deal with this in the committees. I can't say more about it at this point. ”Müller has more to say about the southern part of the street:"The people in charge of the Petruskirche would like to redesign or redesign their area here." They have not yet started a specific land-use plan, but there is an idea process in which the church is involved.

Work is also being carried out on the surface design

The city itself deals with the Egerlandstrasse.

While the residential and commercial buildings of the building cooperative and savings bank as well as the underground car park are growing, work is being carried out on the surface design.

According to the results of the ideas and planning workshop from 2018, the office of Kehrbaum Architects made a preliminary draft, reports the mayor.

He was asked by the city council to specify the execution for fountains and green islands.

"This draft will also be presented in one of the upcoming meetings."

And what's next in Geretsried's parlor?

The town hall chief confirms that other investors are interested in the New Center.

In addition to the owners, on the commercial side, this is primarily "city-center-relevant": In addition to local supplies, according to Müller, these are primarily the textile and fashion, sporting goods and gastronomy sectors.

"As a city, we can also imagine leisure and entertainment options, for example a cinema or bars and pubs."
