In the early hours of today (10th), officers from the Special Task Force of the Transport Department of the East Kowloon Region carried out an operation against driving during the license suspension period and intercepted vehicles driving suspected license suspension periods.
During the operation, police officers stopped a 54-year-old male driver. After investigation, it is believed that the male driver had been scored 15 points or more for committing a violation within two years in February and was sentenced to a six-month suspension by the court. .
The male driver was arrested on suspicion of driving during the suspension period and driving without third-party insurance. He has been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in early June.
The police stated that they will continue to strengthen law enforcement to crack down on driving during license suspension and driving without third party insurance.
Driving during the license suspension period and driving without third party insurance is a serious crime. Upon conviction, each of the two crimes is punishable by a fine of 10,000 yuan and imprisonment for 12 months.
The police urge motorists not to try the law.
