The police are preparing with large forces for the Jerusalem Day events that will take place today (Monday) in the capital, in the center of which is the flag parade.

Currently, the parade is expected to take place in the Muslim Quarter, according to the original plan.

The route may change throughout the day in the shadow of the tensions that have been felt in recent days in East Jerusalem, and have also reached Judea and Samaria and the Gaza Strip.

Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman explained that it may be decided to direct the marchers to another route "subject to a situation assessment that will take place today in cooperation with all the various security forces, and then in accordance with concrete intelligence or alternatively a political level decision."

The sensitive decision regarding the ascent of Jews to the Temple Mount is expected to be made only in the morning, after a security situation assessment and in accordance with the decision of the political echelon.

In recent days, the compound has remained closed to visitors due to the end of Ramadan, where tens of thousands of Muslim worshipers arrive.

Police said they were prepared to allow the flag parade at the Nablus Gate to pass through the Muslim Quarter.

As part of the deployment, the police made a series of arrests of Palestinians who they say are suspected of endangering the public.

When the marchers pass, the stall owners are asked to close in order to avoid friction.

The parade, in which national religious participants participate, begins in the city center, and from there continues to the Old City to the Western Wall.

Some of the marchers, mostly women, enter through the Jaffa Gate.

While the other marchers enter through the Nablus Gate and the Muslim Quarter.

The marchers are expected to pass through the Muslim Quarter area no later than 7pm, due to masses of Muslims coming to the Temple Mount for prayer.

Yaakov Novik, one of the organizers of the flags parade, noted that the number of marchers to the Western Wall is expected to be limited to thousands following the disaster in Meron.

Prior to the events, changes will be made to the traffic arrangements, and from 14:00, many streets in the city centers and near the Old City will be closed.

The light rail will operate on two shortened routes: from Pisgat Ze'ev to the Nablus Gate and from Mount Herzl to Central Station.

Meanwhile, the evacuation of families in Sheikh Jarrah, an issue at the center of protests in the neighborhood, has been postponed at least for the time being.

The Supreme Court postponed the hearing on the families 'request for leave to appeal, after Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit asked to examine his joining the proceedings in light of the families' defense attorney's request, and submitted opinions from policy and profession officials in a sealed envelope.

The religious Zionist faction announced that they would arrive at noon for a tour of the neighborhood.

The evacuation has been postponed, for now.

Tensions in East Jerusalem that have been going on for weeks. Clashes first broke out at the Nablus Gate following the police decision to place fences and block seating on the steps during Ramadan. After removing settings there is a lull, but not for a long time. Against the background of the progress of proceedings regarding the evacuation of Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah for Jews, daily protests began in the neighborhood.

Demonstrators clashed with police, and on Thursday evening also with right-wing activists who came to the neighborhood after MK Itamar Ben Gvir (Religious Zionism) decided to move his office to the place, he said in protest of police incompetence in protecting Jews. On Friday, Ben Gvir announced that He decided to vacate, after the Prime Minister's Office agreed that there would be a permanent police station in the neighborhood until the end of Ramadan.

On Friday, clashes broke out in the neighborhood in the evening, but the main focus was on the Temple Mount.

Protesters immediately documented stones and objects at police officers using stun grenades and sponge bullets, and about 200 people were reported injured in the Red Crescent.

On Saturday, clashes broke out at the Nablus Gate and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood between Palestinians and police.

In the Red Crescent, about 90 people were reported injured and 17 police officers were injured.

However, the Muslim Quarter itself had a festive atmosphere, and the clashes were hardly felt.

Yesterday, according to the Red Crescent, at least 14 Palestinians were injured in the riots.
