A 24-year-old man was indicted on Sunday for murder and imprisoned on suspicion of having killed his 76-year-old grandmother, whose charred body was discovered Friday in his henhouse, in the village of Pins, in Charente, said Sunday, May 9, the Angoulême prosecutor's office.

The body of this woman had been discovered Friday morning by a local resident, lying under a lean-to of his henhouse, a few meters from his house in Pines, a village of 450 souls in the heart of the Charente Limousine.
During the first hearings, his 24-year-old grandson, already known to the justice services, was heard by investigators and finally placed in police custody on Friday evening.

According to information from the daily Charente Libre obtained from a source close to the case, investigators are studying the trail of a financial dispute between the victim and his grandson.
A dispute about the inheritance opposed the young man and his grandmother, who lived alone in a place of half a dozen houses and had been widowed for ten years.
The young man had visited him a month ago.
An autopsy must be performed on Monday at the Poitiers Medico-Legal Institute to determine the exact circumstances of the death of the septuagenarian.
