The Orléans prosecutor's office opened an investigation following the death threats received by the director of France 3 Center-Val de Loire, after his refusal to broadcast a documentary commissioned and funded by the town hall of Orléans on the traditional festivals of Jeanne d 'Bow.
The investigation was entrusted to the territorial direction of the judicial police of Orleans, said the prosecution.

Thursday, May 6, the director of France 3 Center-Val de Loire had lodged a complaint against X for "threat of crime or offenses against people or property against a public service official", according to France Televisions .
Jean-Jacques Basier said in particular to have received threatening phone calls such as: "
We will take care of your mouth
" or "
We are going to visit you, that will allow you to think before acting
".
Still according to France Télévisions, Jean-Jacques Basier also indicated that he had been the victim of insults and threats on social networks, after the CNews broadcast "L'Heure des pros" on April 30, when his name had been revealed to the antenna by the host Pascal Praud.

The CNews journalist then intended to denounce, along with the mayor of Orléans Serge Grouard (LR), regular guest of the show, the refusal of the public channel to broadcast a documentary commissioned by the town hall of Orléans on the celebrations of Jeanne. d'Arc, liberator of the city on May 8, 1429. The distribution had initially been envisaged by France 3.
According to the France television section of the National Union of Journalists (SNJ) and the SNJ-CGT, "
the irresponsible attitude of polemicists and local elected officials must end
".
In a joint press release, they denounce "
a real lynching in public places
" on the part of Serge Grouard and Pascal Praud.
For his part, the president of the Center-Val de Loire region François Bonneau (PS) judged the threats “
unbearable
”, believing that they could not “
go unpunished
”.
