The water law approval for the surf wave planned in Wolfratshausen is available. But it's still too early to get the surfboards out of the basement.

The water law approval for the surf wave planned in Wolfratshausen is available.

But it's still too early to get the surfboards out of the basement.

Wolfratshausen - In order to be able to build the artificial wave planned in Weidach, there are other tasks on the list.

The joy about the mail from the district office at the Surfing Wolfratshausen association is still great.

"We waited a long time due to the corona and we were looking forward to it," says Kathi Maier from the board of directors.

Association has been involved for eight years

Surfing Wolfratshausen has been involved in water sports in Loisachstadt for over eight years.

The next step on the way to the installation of an adjustable steel structure in the Loisach Canal, which is supposed to generate a surf wave there, was the approval under water law.

The district authority issued this this week.

The prerequisite for the operation of the facility is that the spawning behavior of the Huchen is not impaired.

"In the remaining waterway between the upper power plant and the area where the works sewer runs out, there must be sufficient water during the spawning season," explains Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner.

Additional measuring points are to be set up for corresponding monitoring.

Appropriate requirements are associated with the water law permit.

These are now incorporated into the planning by the commissioned specialist office, according to the town hall chief.

In doing so, they coordinate closely with Surfing Wolfratshausen as the operator association.

We have written commitments for all donations, and the money from the crowdfunding is available.

There is also still a cash fall. The latest cost calculation is from 2019. "Since then, a lot of water has flowed down the Loisach," says Heilinglechner. At that time, the total project volume was 800,000 euros. The municipality pays a part. The city council has capped the expenditure for the surf wave to 400,000 euros - and has already invested around 180,000 euros in planning, among other things. The European Union is putting a good 270,000 euros - keyword Leader program - on the table for the project. Another but lurks here: In order to skim off the money, the construction costs would have to be settled by the end of 2021, according to the town hall chief. “That won't be possible.” The construction project is complex. Heilinglechner says he is in talks as to whether the deadline for the obligation to provide evidence can be extended. In order to secure the funds, the project should be implemented as soon as possible. When does the town hall chief want to go on the water? "It would be nice if we can put the surf wave into operation next year."

The operating concept is adjusted

The association has rounded up the 130,000 euros that are missing according to the current level of costs.

"We have written commitments for all donations, and the money from the crowdfunding is ready," says board member Kathi Maier.

The association created the operating concept in principle.

It will be adapted and further developed.

Among other things, the supervision for the wave is regulated.

In addition, they are working on opening the association to more members and hoping that the wave will come as soon as possible.

Maier: "After such a long time, our feet naturally itch."
