The new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hong Kong continues. The residents of Block R of Allway Gardens and Block N2 of Kornhill were arranged to go home for quarantine yesterday (9th), but a small number of quarantine persons failed to return home.

The Department of Health explained in the evening that 17 of them lived in the same building as the N501Y variant virus patients. They are close contacts of the confirmed case and need to be quarantined at the quarantine center for 21 days until the deadline expires.

2300 tested negative again and left the quarantine center

The government has recently changed the quarantine arrangements for cases involving variant viruses. If a building has a variant virus patient with an unknown source, residents in the same building will no longer be classified as close contacts and sent to a quarantine center.

Residents in Block R of Allway Gardens and Block N2 of Kornhill were successively arranged to take coaches home yesterday afternoon.

However, this arrangement has missed the net, and it has been revealed that many people still have not been "released" today.

The Department of Health stated that more than 2,300 people were involved in the operation. They were re-tested and obtained negative results and had left the quarantine center.

Only 17 of them live in the same building as the N501Y variant virus patients. They are close contacts of the confirmed case and need to be quarantined at the quarantine center for 21 days until the deadline expires.

Department of Health: Civil Security Team has deployed additional manpower to cope

The Department of Health pointed out that given that a small number of people under quarantine need to undergo more than one virus test, they and their family members must wait for a new test result to be negative before leaving.

In addition, due to the large number of people involved, it takes time to verify identities and related documents, and some quarantine persons cannot leave at the same time.

The Civil Safety Service, which is responsible for site management, has already deployed additional staff to provide appropriate assistance and respond to requests from quarantine personnel as soon as possible.

The Department of Health also stated that as of 7 pm today, about 20 people are being arranged to leave after obtaining negative results.

Those who leave the quarantine still need to be counted from the day the patient leaves the building. They are subject to compulsory testing on the 3rd, 7th, 12th and 19th days, and they also need to monitor themselves until the expiration of the 21-day deadline.
