At the Tölzer Ramadama from the youth development and school preparatory facility, the participation was low this time.

But a couple of children pitched in to make the environment a little less litter-free.

Bad Tölz - It was the first beautiful day in May. That probably prevented a lively participation in the Ramadama of the Tölzer youth promotion on Saturday. Only one pair of siblings each from Bad Tölz and Geretsried, aged eleven and twelve, came to the youth café. There she welcomed the team from the facility and Mayor Ingo Mehner.

Then the children moved with the new street worker Michael Mock and intern Fabian Mangold through Hindenburgstrasse and Marktstrasse, over the Isar bridge to the Kurhaus.

There wasn't really much rubbish to be found on these showcase squares and streets.

But only at first glance.

Highly toxic cigarette butts are now often simply overlooked.

In the end, the garbage bags contained, among other things, a soaked hooded jacket, gloves, a hat, a soccer ball, a pair of soaked shoes from a planting box and a bicycle tire.

Dog poops - one right on a house wall on Marktstrasse - were also discovered.

Bad Tölz: Four children lend a hand with street workers and clear away rubbish

It was not the first Ramadama for the four children. All of them are also active in the “Fridays for Future” movement, which demonstrates for more climate protection. The twelve-year-old Taavi from Bad Tölz also happily spoke to people on benches and in Marktstrasse, asking if they wanted to get rid of rubbish. The young athletes always got positive reactions. For example, an elderly lady gave them a candy bag in front of the hospital, but with all of the contents inside.

After a break in the spa gardens, we went back to the youth café.

There was a snack waiting for all active participants, with baguettes, drinks and ice cream.

Former city councilor Camilla Plöckl was also on duty at Ramadama on Saturday.

She had planned the Karwendel settlement and the banks of the Isar.

For example, the banks of the Isar behind Moraltpark are problematic.

On the other hand, the setting up of rubbish bins in the Karwendel settlement had an effect, reported Plöckl.

Litter ends up on the street or in meadows less often.

The children's collection results also flow into an art project.

The teacher and artist Peter Remmling from Bad Tölz has modeled a fish over two meters long and almost one meter wide from a wire frame.

The garbage collected during Ramadama will fill this figure.

The question behind art is how garbage can be avoided.

The mayor wanted to show this art project in a public place.

“I've had the experience that sometimes art speaks to people better than words could,” said Remmling.

The campaign is part of the cultural project “Heimatperlen” of the Tölzer Mehrgenerationenhaus, which is funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs.

The collection was not only made on Saturday, but also last week. The children from the school preparatory facility (SVE) of the Marie-Luise-Schultze-Jahn-Schule organized a Ramadama at the Tölzer sports field. The boys and girls collected several bags of rubbish in front of their own school. Cigarette butts, bags of chips, beer bottles and broken glass were so abundant that the five- and six-year-olds couldn't collect everything. The certified environmental school therefore calls on other classes and emergency care groups to participate. “Let's go and tidy up,” is the urgent appeal. The SVE is an institution of the district for children who need particularly intensive preparation to develop their skills, also with regard to school readiness.
