Since the weekend, easing for vaccinated and convalescents has been in place in Germany.

What does that mean in concrete terms?

The answer is in the Merkur.de conversation.

Munich - Since Saturday (May 8), corona easing for vaccinated and convalescent people has been in place throughout Germany: the Bundestag and Bundesrat have paved the way for a corresponding ordinance.

But what does that mean in practice?

The most important answers can be found in the Merkur.de * conversation in the video

Merkur.de * -Video on relaxation for vaccinated and convalescent - the overview

It should be noted that the obligation to keep a distance and mask still apply to vaccinated persons and genesis. And that the debate about further easing for the government of Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) is far from over. For a long time, politicians from the Union and FDP, among others, have been pushing for openings for restaurants and hotels. It is also unclear whether there will be further measures in which vaccinated people will be better off compared to those who have been tested - FDP parliamentary deputy Stephan Thomae warned against this in an interview with Merkur.de *.

How do the Germans feel about the plans?

It seems difficult to gauge.

A Forsa survey on behalf of RTL and n-tv showed a clear majority of 64 percent for openings in hotels, restaurants, theaters or cinemas for

those who have been completely vaccinated against Corona and those who have recovered.

According to the ARD “Deutschlandtrend” * published on Thursday, however, 40 percent of Germans find it fundamentally wrong if vaccinated or convalescent people are exempted from restrictions - even among those in favor of the regulations, 51 percent found that such easing should only apply if more people had the chance to get a vaccination.

Relaxation for vaccinated and convalescent - the new rules for Germany at a glance:

Contacts and exit:

The previous restriction on meetings does not apply to private gatherings in which only vaccinated and convalescent people take part, according to the regulation. In private meetings in which people who have not been vaccinated or who have recovered also take part, immunized persons are “not treated as another person”. The curfews currently in force, especially at night, no longer apply to vaccinated and convalescent people. This brings a lot of relief in everyday life with it. In the future, for example, people in old people's and nursing homes will be able to eat together in the dining room again if they are all vaccinated.

Equality with

those who have been

tested:

Vaccinated and convalescents are also treated on an equal footing with people who can present a negative test result - and do not have to present one.

This is supposed to make shopping at the “Click and Meet” or going to the hairdresser easier.

Quarantine:

The quarantine obligations for people arriving from abroad do not apply to vaccinated and convalescent people - unless the contact person is infected with a virus variant that is not yet widespread in Germany "with worrying properties".

The quarantine obligation also applies when entering from a virus variant area.

Sports:

The restriction that "contactless individual

sports

" may only be practiced alone, in pairs or with members of the own household no longer applies to those who have been vaccinated or who have recovered.

Will vaccinated people soon be able to go back to the restaurant?

Such a regulation is not provided for in the current regulation, but it could come in a later version.

At the moment it would be in vain anyway because the restaurants are closed for consumption on site.

And the vaccinated do not have the right to have a restaurant or shop open for them.

Does the mask requirement for vaccinated people still apply?

Yes, the regulations for wearing respiratory masks continue to apply to vaccinated and convalescent people, as do the distance rules.

Who is considered vaccinated?

According to the planned regulation, “an asymptomatic person who is in possession of a vaccination certificate issued to them” is vaccinated. Complete vaccination protection exists 14 days after the last vaccination - three of the four approved vaccines require two vaccinations. Anyone who has had a coronavirus infection needs proof of recovery accordingly. The previous infection must be proven by a PCR test that was performed at least 28 days and at most six months ago.

How is vaccination protection proven?

Those who have been vaccinated can identify themselves with the digital vaccination pass, which should be available by the end of June at the latest.

Alternatively, the yellow paper ID or the form completed by the vaccination centers can be presented.
