16,811,471 French people have received at least one dose of vaccine against Covid-19, as of May 5, 2021, according to data from Public Health France.
A quarter of the population.
A milestone passed by Israel in January, the United Kingdom in February, Chile and the United States in March, Hungary, Uruguay, Canada, Belgium and Germany, among others, in April.
One in four French people has therefore started the vaccination process.
But not just any French.
The government only opened up access to vaccines gradually, with priority given to populations that health experts consider to be the most vulnerable: elderly people or people with co-morbidities and exposed professions.
Has this strategy enabled these populations to protect themselves massively?
Three-quarters of those aged 70 and over partially vaccinated
Most of the people vaccinated in France are seniors: seven out of ten people who received at least one dose were 60 years old or over, on May 5.
This allowed the vaccination, at least partial, of two thirds of seniors.
