New military forum: 5 minutes to understand this anonymous open letter that has become a petition

2021-05-13T08:30:26.355Z

After a first burnout made public at the end of April, the military had a second forum published in Valeurs Actuelles on Sunday evening. Or

The terms are the same, the theme remains unchanged, but the form is revisited and the signatories more mysterious.

After a first open letter published on April 21 in the far-right weekly Valeurs Actuelles, soldiers take the floor again, relayed by the same media, to formulate what looks like a new warning in the face of the "forfeiture" of France.

Unlike the first, this forum is anonymous.

It is signed, affirms Valeurs Actuelles, by active soldiers, but no evidence has been leaked on this subject.

Open for signature by citizens, it counts, this Monday noon, more than 100,000 signatures.

What does this new forum contain?

Like the first open letter, the second aims to "warn about the seriousness of the situation" in France, indicates Valeurs present.

It mentions, among other things, "concessions" to Islamism, "abandoned suburbs", "accommodation with delinquency" and "violence in our towns and villages".

The jargon used in the first open letter is found in this one.

"We see communitarianism taking hold in the public space, in the public debate," say the signatories.

We see hatred for France and its history becoming the norm ”.

These elements added to each other lead according to them to a "decline" which "precedes the collapse" of France.

In the first letter, the threat of civil war appeared in black and white.

It is the same for this second edition, which explains: "Yes, again, civil war is brewing in France and you know it perfectly", addressing the leaders of the country.

The text also evokes "the chaos and violence" of a "civil insurrection" predicted by the signatories, in a content, in substance and in form, which however seems to have been more studied.

Who are the signatories?

In the gallery, the latter present themselves as "men and women, active soldiers, of all armies and of all ranks, of all sensibilities", but not a name does not filter.

The sanctions which hover over the signatories of the first letter will be more difficult to apply this time.

"If we cannot, by law, express ourselves with our face uncovered, it is just as impossible for us to be silent," indicate the authors.

Still, the impact of the letter is necessarily weakened.

100,000 people joined the military appeal.

Signed first by people presented as active soldiers, the platform finally turned into a petition, since it can be signed by readers on Monday.

"[Exclusive] Sign the new military forum", headline Current values at the top of this new letter, which is much more participatory than the first.

“100,000 people joined in the military appeal.

You too sign this text ”, also invites the media on its Twitter account shortly before noon.

What are the political reactions?

If the Ministry of the Armed Forces has not yet publicly reacted to this new speech, the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin spoke on Monday morning of his skepticism as to the identity and intentions of the authors.

"Obviously, it is a few weeks before the first round of regional elections, and a few months before the first round of the presidential election, a crude maneuver," he says, denouncing the anonymity of the project.

“When you want to be brave, you give your name.

Asked about the approach of the first forum, the president of the National Rally Marine Le Pen spoke Sunday evening on LCI, before taking note of this new open letter.

"I have a lot of respect for our army and above all I have great confidence in our army", she repeated, considering the soldiers "eminently respectful of the institutional organization of the Republic".

For the presidential candidate 2022, there is, in these speeches of the Great mute, no threat of a coup d'etat but a legitimate action: "Basically, they were right to alert" , believes the member for the North. Marine Le Pen knows this, and her response to the first column, also published in Current values, was motivated in this direction: "These projects will be resolved through the ballot box", she repeated on LCI.
