The stay of the poisoned Russian oppositionist Alexej Navalny in his clinic in the Siberian Omsk made the former hospital director Alexander Murachowski known suddenly.
The doctor recently hit the headlines again - he had not returned from a hunting trip on Friday and had meanwhile been reported missing.
Now Murachowski has reappeared.
On Monday he found himself out of a forest in the Siberian region of Omsk, reported the state news agency Tass, citing authorities.
Murachowski is being treated in a hospital, but his condition is "normal".
Around 100 security forces had previously looked for him in the swampy forest area.
Last year, when Navalny was treated in Murachowski's clinic after a poison attack, the doctor only certified that the critically ill opponent had a metabolic disorder.
Navalny accused him of falsifying the diagnosis.
Murachowski was also accused of delaying Navalny's move to Germany.
Murachowski has been Minister of Health of the Omsk Region since November.
Navalny was later flown to Germany and treated for weeks in the Berlin Charité.
He was arrested on his return to Russia and is currently serving a sentence of several years in a prison camp.
Two other doctors in Navalny's last died
Laboratories in Germany, France and Sweden later found traces of the military agent Novichok in his body.
According to research by SPIEGEL, Bellingcat and other partners, at least eight agents from the Russian secret service FSB were apparently involved in the poison attack on Navalny;
the Kremlin denies any responsibility.
Russia claims that there was no evidence of poisoning near Navalny and that it is therefore not initiating an investigation.
The EU and the US have repeatedly urged Russia to investigate the crime and imposed sanctions on Russia.
After two other Omsk doctors from Navalny had died in the past few months, Murachowski's intermittent disappearance had caused a sensation in the Russian and international media.
