The Hôtel de la Marine: an eventful destiny

After four years of work, the Parisian building which served as royal storage under Louis XV has completed its transformation. A look back at a battle fought between the guardians of heritage and the supporters of renewal.

Built by the architect of Louis XV, Ange-Jacques Gabriel, the building was originally used as a royal furniture repository.

Furniture, tapestries, carpets, weapons, bronzes and crown jewels are stored there, and can even be visited by Parisians on certain days of the week.

Homeric battles
