The People's Assembly discussed today, in its second session of the third regular session of the third legislative session, held under the chairmanship of Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the Council, the performance of the Ministry of Health and issues related to its work.

At the beginning of the session, the Minister of State for People's Assembly Affairs, Eng. Maloul Al-Hussein, made a presentation before the Council on the most important issues and decisions that were approved by the Council of Ministers in its previous session related to the livelihood and service affairs.

After Minister Al-Hussein's presentation, the council members reiterated the necessity of increasing salaries, wages, living compensation and incentives for state workers, and securing production requirements for farmers to reach good production of the wheat crop and support public sector institutions for service and productivity.

With regard to the performance of the Ministry of Health, Minister of Health Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash confirmed that the ministry has intensified its efforts to restore and rehabilitate hospitals and health centers and put them into service. It recently opened Al-Tal Hospital in Damascus countryside with a capacity of 60 beds and a total cost estimated at one billion and 450 million Syrian pounds, and 3 health centers were opened in Lattakia and two centers were renovated in Quneitra and Naima, Daraa.

Al-Ghobash indicated that the Ministry will, during the coming period, inaugurate Al-Ayyun Hospital in Aleppo, Harasta Hospital in Damascus Countryside, and an intensive care hospital in the Dumar project and Khazna Hospital in Tartous, with a capacity of 60 beds, which is currently under furnishing and equipping, indicating that work is continuing to rehabilitate the National Hospital in Lattakia and Jableh Hospital, which is close to work It is on its end, as are the hospitals of Kafr Batna and Al-Maliha in Rural Damascus, Nawa in Daraa, and the Great Homs Hospital.

With regard to dealing with the Corona virus, Minister Al-Ghobash confirmed that the Ministry is continuing to take measures to confront the pandemic, in addition to implementing precautionary measures and approving 7 laboratories for examining PCRs, indicating in this regard that the capacity of the emergency hospital in Al-Fayhaa Sports City in Damascus has become 120 beds to support Corona patients.

In their interventions, some members of the Council called for the provision of all types of medicines, especially chronic ones, and to control and reduce the prices of medicines in general, to reconsider the wages paid by dentists, and to repair the disrupted medical devices and equipment in hospitals and health centers, including the radiology device in the clinics center in Safita and the kidney dialysis device in the National Hospital in Harasta.

A number of members called to include retirees with health insurance, increase the number of Corona examinations laboratories, reconsider the decision to close rented clinics in Al-Haffah in Lattakia Governorate, or secure an alternative to them before closing the rented buildings, stressing the importance of supplying hospitals and centers with doctors and nurses, especially the governorates countryside, and obligating all graduates of human medicine to work. In state hospitals for a specified period.

Some members called for providing health directorates with a number of ambulances, permitting the export of some types of medicine to supplement the treasury with foreign currency, increasing interest in the production of prosthetic limbs, and monitoring mechanisms for determining the costs of surgical operations in private hospitals.

In his response to the interventions of the members of the Council, the Minister of Health confirmed that there are specific conditions to allow the export of medicines, especially since many pharmaceutical factories have stopped manufacturing some medicines as a result of the differences in the exchange rate in the previous period, indicating in another context that the ministry is striving in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research To repair broken medical devices in all hospitals and health centers.

He pointed out that the Ministry recently held intensive meetings with the Ministry of Higher Education and the Medical Services Department to give more attention to doctors and support them and provide ways to stop their migration, indicating that there is a committee formed in the ministry to study the reality of the PCR laboratories in Syria and their number. There are specific conditions for granting The license for laboratories, noting that the license was withdrawn from one of the laboratories a few days ago as a result of violating the conditions.
