We tell you what follows after the end of the state of alarm in Spain with the restrictions due to covid-19 in Madrid, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galicia, Andalusia and the Valencian Community.

When the clock struck 00:00 on May 9, hundreds of people took to the streets of Barcelona: "Freedom, freedom!" Some shouted.

And it is that at that time the state of alarm decreed by the Government of Spain ended in October 2020 and the curfew was lifted in 13 of the 17 autonomous communities of the country.

However, although Spain has raised the state of alarm, some regions will still maintain certain restrictions, including some of the most touristy areas of their territory.

We tell you what follows after the end of the state of alarm with the restrictions for covid-19 in Madrid, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galicia, Andalusia and the Valencian Community.

Madrid

As of May 9, the curfew is abolished in the Community of Madrid.

Commerce: Commercial

establishments may open between 6:00 and 23:00 with a capacity of 75%, except for essential services, which have no time limit.

Groups:

It is recommended that family, social or recreational activities in public spaces be limited to a maximum of six people unless they are living together.

In spaces for private use, it is recommended that groups be limited to those who belong to the same nucleus or coexistence group.

Bars and restaurants:

They must close at the latest at 00:00 and cannot admit new customers after 23:00.

Consumption in the bar is still prohibited and the limitation of four diners per table indoors, which will have 50% capacity, and six on terraces, which will have 75% capacity.

Cinemas, theaters and auditoriums:

They may close at 00:00, with 75% of the capacity and the obligation to leave a free seat between people or groups of people who buy the ticket together.

Places of worship:

Capacity is limited to 50%.

In wakes and funerals, a maximum of 50 people is kept outdoors and 25 people in closed spaces.

Museums and libraries:

75% capacity.

For visits to museums and monuments, groups of maximum 10 people are allowed.

Sports facilities and gyms:

They may open between 6:00 and 23:00 with a capacity of 50%.

Children's recreational parks (ball parks and similar):

Capacity of 40%

Amusement parks, zoo and aquarium:

60% capacity

Gambling, betting and casino

venues

:

50% capacity and closing time at 00:00.

Catalonia

The night and perimeter confinements are over in Catalonia.

However, at least until May 23, the Generalitat of Catalonia establishes the following restrictions:

Bars and restaurants:

They may be open until 23:00 with a maximum of 4 people per table.

Groups

: Social gatherings remain for a maximum of 6 people.

Shops

: They can open in their usual hours and those of convenience until 23:00.

Cultural events and sports facilities:

They can run until 23:00.

Amusement parks:

30% capacity.

Religious acts:

Capacity of 50%.

The discos and nightclubs are still closed.

Basque Country

The official bulletin of the Basque Country of May 8 establishes the following restrictions.

No limitation to night mobility or perimeter closure is established.

Commerce: Commercial

establishments must close at most at 22:00, with 50% capacity.

Those with an area greater than 150 square meters will have a permitted capacity of 40%.

Bars and restaurants:

They can open with a capacity of 50% indoors and until 10pm.

They will not be able to open to the public before 6:00.

Consumption in the bar or standing is prohibited.

Clusters of clients may not exceed 4 per table.

Home delivery can be made until 23:00.

Discotheques and nightlife

: They are still closed.

Museums, exhibition halls, monuments and cultural facilities: Group

visits will be of a maximum of 6 people.

They will be able to develop their activity with a maximum capacity of 50%.

Sports practice:

Outdoors, it can be done in groups of maximum 6 people.

In sports facilities, including swimming pools, a capacity of 50% will be allowed.

Valencian Community

As the website of the Valencia City Council explains, in the Valencian Community perimeter confinement declines and entry and exit from the autonomous community is authorized.

But the following restrictions remain:

Mobility:

 Night mobility will be restricted from 00:00 to 6:00.

And the sale of alcohol is prohibited between 22 and 8, except in the hotel industry.

Bars and restaurants:

Open until 11:30 p.m. and a maximum of 10 people per table.

The terraces can be at 100% of their capacity and the interior spaces at 50% capacity.

Smoking is prohibited on the terraces.

Shops:

Open with 75% capacity.

Groups:

Social gatherings in public and private areas are extended to a maximum of 10 people.

Museums, cinemas, theaters and exhibition halls:

Capacity of 75%.

Sports facilities:

Groups of a maximum 30 people will be allowed in outdoor facilities and a maximum of 10 people with 50% capacity in closed facilities.

Municipal Libraries:

Open without limited capacity.

Bingo halls, casinos, gambling halls, cybers and the like:

Open until 11:30 p.m. with a maximum capacity of 50%.

Places of worship:

The permanence in places of worship may not exceed 75%.

Non-religious ceremonies will have a maximum capacity of 50%.

Wakes and funerals may be at 50% of their capacity with a maximum of 50 people outdoors and 25 in closed spaces.

Discos, dance halls and cocktail bars:

Activity suspended.

Andalusia

In Andalusia, the "stabilization" phase begins, until May 31, and the restrictions will be established according to four levels of health alert, that is, the capacity and opening permits will vary according to the alert level in which the zone.

Likewise, the perimeter closures would occur when the 1,000 cumulative incidence cases per 100,000 inhabitants are exceeded in 14 days, provided that the municipality has a population of more than 5,000 inhabitants.

Bars and restaurants:

At alert level 1, they may open until 00:00 with a maximum of 8 people per table indoors, with a capacity of 75%, and 10 people on terraces with a full capacity.

It cannot be consumed in bars.

The restrictions increase according to the alert level;

for example, indoors, on level 3, the capacity will be 50%, and on level 4, 30%.

Nightclubs and cocktail bars:

At alert level 1, they may open until 2:00, with the same restrictions for bars and restaurants.

The dance will be limited to the areas that are outdoors and with a mandatory mask.

In those places in Andalusia that are on health alert level 2 and 3, the dance floors will not be available.

Commerce: Commercial

establishments may resume their usual closing time.

Cultural and sporting events:

At health alert levels 1 and 2, a free seat must be left between the groups.

At alert level 3, spectators should be one and a half meters apart.

This will also apply in cinemas, theaters and bullrings.

Galicia

In Galicia, the restrictions may vary between municipalities. 

For La Coruña, groups in private spaces are limited to people living together between 1:00 and 6:00 am.

Bars and restaurants can open at 50% capacity indoors and 75% capacity on terraces.
