Wang / Mauern

- All political levels in Germany are willing to achieve the energy transition and the ambitious climate goals of the Federal Republic.

Another step in this direction is the application by the municipalities of Wang and Mauern to implement charging stations for electric cars in the municipalities through the Citizens Energy Cooperative Freising Land.

The two municipalities are currently still blank spots on the map of the charging infrastructure.

The Wang community addressed the issue some time ago and became one of the first members of the Citizens Energy Cooperative (BEG).

This has now written to the municipalities of the Freising district - with the aim of building a network and using the infrastructure to make it easier for citizens to switch to electric cars.

In cooperation with the respective municipalities, BEG would like to set up a charging station for at least ten years.

If the response is positive, further e-charging stations could follow

The community of Wang then quickly got in touch and suggested the fire station in Volkmannsdorferau as the location for the first charging station in the community. The BEG has submitted a funding application for 17 charging stations in the district and Wang confirmed that they are number one on the list of interested parties. If the offer is accepted well, Mayor Markus Stöber can then also imagine further charging stations in the other districts of his area municipality. Stöber would like to actively support this part of the energy transition and is looking forward to the first charging station, which is to be implemented soon.

A few kilometers further, within walls, the municipal council has also decided that the BEG will apply for a location.

Here Mayor Georg Krojer says that if you win, you will also join the cooperative as a member.

Krojer makes it clear that the topic is not new to his local council either: "We have already talked twice about a charging station and want to implement one in the outdoor facilities of the old town hall," emphasizes Krojer.

The BEG is now the first option inside walls.

Should the church not be selected in the process, another partner would be looked for.

Krojer makes it clear that the municipality wants to create an infrastructure for municipality citizens to help them switch from cars with combustion engines to electromobility.
