At about 11 o'clock this (14th) morning, the police received a report that a 62-year-old worker named Wu Nan suddenly fainted during a break at a construction site at No. 15 Zhuyun Street, Sheung Shui, and ambulancemen arrived and sent him to the hospital for rescue. However, the rescue was ineffective, and the cause of death has yet to be determined after an autopsy.
Sources at the scene indicated that the male victim was a casual worker on the site and the site involved was the Drainage Services Department.
Checking the information, the above site is undergoing construction of water purification facilities in Shek Wu Hui.
After the incident, the Labour Department has sent staff to the scene to find out.
According to the news, the deceased man surnamed Wu is married and has a daughter with his wife.
Before the incident, he had told a worker that he had chest pain, and then went to rest next to him, suddenly fainted and fell into a coma, but he died after being sent to the hospital.
The relatives and friends of the deceased went to the hospital to find out afterwards, saying they felt abruptly about the incident.
The Drainage Services Department responded to the incident that a contractor worker who was responsible for the lifting work in the construction of the Shek Wu Hui water purification facility of the Drainage Services Department fainted during a break at about 11:30 this morning (14).
The site safety officer immediately called an ambulance to take him to hospital, and was later certified dead.
The Department is deeply saddened by the death of a worker, and will do its best to provide appropriate assistance to the family of the deceased with the contractor, Kwan Li-Jun Wo Joint Venture.
