Nine people were injured in a shooting Thursday night in Rhode Island's capital, in what police have described as
the worst such incident in the city's history

Various weapons were used in what authorities suspect was a reckoning between two rival local gangs that have been fighting for a long time.

The shooting began when a subject fired at a house from a moving vehicle

Then one of the people who was in that house returned fire.
The shooting took place in the southeastern Washington Park neighborhood, which Clements described as a typically "private" neighborhood.

Witnesses confirmed that there was a shooting outside the house.
Celements reported that dozens of shots were fired.
The experts marked more than a dozen places on the street where the impacted casings fell, around an area that was sealed off by the police.
So far no arrests have been made.
Clements stressed that the investigation is in its early stages and that detectives are in hospitals interviewing victims.
The victims are between 19 and 25 years old
