In order to flush money into the cash register for the new costume home, the Wiesseer Trachtenverein has offered the old maypole on Ebay.

It is now clear: The tribe is going to distant Thuringia.

Bad Wiessee

- What was once the maypole of Bad Wiessee has become a resting bench in Thuringia.

Christian Dalmann (44) is at home there.

He runs a tiling business in Bad Wiessee and bought the old trunk on Ebay for 302 euros.

As is well known, the proceeds from the sale will be used to build the new traditional costume hut in Wiesse.

For Dalmann, it was a matter of honor to bid.

“I've been at Tegernsee for ten years and now I would like to give something back,” says Dalmann.

It is the profession that brought him to Bad Wiessee.

There are plenty of wealthy customers here for master tilers who create the exquisite.

This is how Dalmann became a weekend commuter.

His wife, two daughters and the dog live in the house in Thuringia, and he goes there every Friday.

And now brings a venerable piece of Bad Wiessee with the maypole.

However, only part of it because of the difficulty of transport.

The rest can be burned, says Dalmann.

Maypole from Bad Wiessee: The buyer wanted the donation

After all, it wasn't about the wood for him, but about supporting the traditional costume association.

The tree had been at the Hotel Bussi Baby since 2016 and had to be dismantled for safety reasons.

The tip had already found another owner, the guild signs were removed.

They are supposed to decorate the new maypole, which has not yet been erected because of the pandemic.

Trachtenverein is satisfied with the proceeds from the auction

Christian Kausch, board member of Trachtler and head of Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT), is satisfied with the success of the maypole auction on Ebay.

“That corresponds to the price of wood and what we had in mind,” says Kausch.

In addition, the idea of simply using the Ebay Internet portal given the lack of opportunities for a proper auction on site gave the fundraiser a boost.

Many of them did not bid, but provided direct financial support.

Traditional costume associations have planned a lot with the construction of a new hut

With the construction of the new traditional costume hut, the association has planned a lot.

After the previous domicile on Söllbachtalstrasse has become too small, a building that is twice as large is now to be built in the Abwinkl spa park.

The Wiesse municipal council supports the project.

A resolution has promised that the municipality will take over the lease and usage contract for the property.

In addition, the municipality will contribute a maximum of 40,000 euros for the roofing material.

The Trachtler want to manage the realization of the new building on their own.
