The municipality of Poing wants to become a “bicycle-friendly municipality in Bavaria”.
In order to get the certificate, criteria must be met.
The decision is near.
Poing - 37 municipalities and cities in Bavaria bear the title “Bicycle-friendly municipality”. The certificate is awarded by the Bavarian Ministry of Transport and the Working Group on Bicycle-Friendly Communities (AGFK) in Bavaria. The municipality of Poing also wants to become a bicycle-friendly municipality, the first theoretical assessment and test is now done. Due to the corona pandemic, representatives of the AGFK and the municipality of Poing (including Mayor Thomas Stark) met to at least theoretically assess whether the municipality has a prospect of the certificate. Poing presented a selected tour through the town, as well as the cycle path concept and measures that have been implemented in recent years to improve cycling. At the end of the event, AGFK managing director Sarah Guttenberger took stock:"Poing is on the right track."

Whether this will lead to the certificate will be decided on July 19th.
The official main trip is planned for this day - a bike tour through Poing with representatives of the AGFK.
"We hope to be convincing in the practical part as well," said Mayor Stark at the end of the online meeting.
The municipality of Poing has been a member of the AGFK for five years.
In order to become a “bike-friendly municipality”, a long list of criteria must be met.
This includes a bike path concept (which has already been created and presented) as well as offers for quick bike repairs and a hose machine.
The municipality of Poing recently set up such an offer with a bike station on the ground floor of the Park and Ride building on the north side of the S-Bahn station.
Put simply, a municipality that wants to receive the award must make cycling as attractive and safe as possible.
Poing: main trip with bike tour on July 19th
In the summer of 2016, an AGFK delegation visited Poing for the first time and left the community with a list of measures that needed to be implemented.
A large part of this has been fulfilled, some things are not feasible for the municipality because (for example Gruber Straße) it is not responsible, but the Ebersberg District Office or the Rosenheim State Building Authority.
Because these are superordinate district roads.
The AGFK currently has 83 member municipalities, including Poing.
Freising, Oberschleißheim, Gröbenzell, Lindau, Munich and Fürstenfeldbruck, among others, have so far been allowed to call themselves a “bicycle-friendly municipality in Bavaria”.
