The coming months in the Brunnthal municipal council will show whether it will bring him luck.

Brunnthal - With Peter Sachs (CSU), a new and at the same time well-known face moves into the Brunnthal municipal council.

After the party-free Ulla Gocke gives up her local honorary office (we reported), the 64-year-old takes her place in the council as the second successor to the list;

the immediate successor to the list, Merve Sürmeli, had previously refused to accept her mandate.

personal change

With this personnel change, the CSU wins back a slim majority in the committee.

Sachs was sworn in at the latest municipal council meeting.

“I am very happy to be back.” In 2014, he had already taken up the council mandate as a replacement for Michael Strauss, who was then outgoing.

In the 2020 local elections, Sachs wanted to "give younger colleagues the priority to help shape local politics".

But the Duisburg-born, who has lived in Brunnthal for 60 years, admits: “If I had known that I was missing the work of the local council, I would have been listed further up.” Sachs sees himself as a “green point among blacks”.

He has always had a green streak.

"Not political, but general."

Against surface sealing

Among other things, Sachs wants to fight for less surface sealing in the village and to work for the preservation of culture and customs. This is important to him, because Sachs is firmly rooted in Brunnthal. He grew up here, and his father was a member of the local council for 20 years - not for the CSU, but for the SPD. Three of his four daughters still live in the village today. Likewise, four out of six grandchildren. He would like to campaign for the fact that the homeland of all Brunnthal children remains “as beautiful as it is”. jo
