For the second time within a very short time, Fridays for Future have called for a demo.

Target of criticism: the federal government.

After the cabinet decision on new climate goals, almost 100 Freising people gathered on Wednesday for a corona-compliant rally, which Fridays for Future Freising and the climate vigil had called for.

The participants, to whom small stones on the ground indicated a distance of two meters, drew attention to the fact that the federal government's more stringent climate targets were not compatible with the 1.5 degree limit agreed in the Paris climate agreement.

"The current federal government has now finally shown that it is not willing to formulate sufficient climate goals and implement climate justice," said the student Franka Toma in her speech. The chairman of the meeting, Ernst Hörmann, used a graphic to show that the new climate targets are “incompatible” with the remaining CO2 budget in order not to exceed 1.5 degrees of global warming. To achieve this, climate neutrality must be achieved by 2035 at the latest. Finally, on Friday, as part of a Germany-wide financial campaign by Fridays for Future, an art campaign took place in front of the Commerzbank in the city center.

It was the second climate demonstration within a few days.

Last weekend, Fridays for Future demonstrated in front of the SPD office in Freising.

The SPD local association has now responded to the demands of climate protection activists.
