The situation in the morning

2021-05-14T06:31:28.257Z

Unfortunately, Jews must be afraid again in Germany. The FDP draws conclusions from its past. And Dennis Aogo feels sorry for Jens Lehmann. That is the situation on Friday.

The fear of the Jews

At the

Ecumenical Church Congress

in Frankfurt am Main, a panel discussion will take place today with

Josef Schuster

, Chairman of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.

Title:

"What are we doing against anti-Semitism?" The

fact that this question still has to be discussed in Germany is a shame for this country.

Above all, there are two forces that give anti-Semitism a boost: a

new German anti-Semitism

that comes along the detour of the culture of remembrance and whose spiritual leader is Björn Höcke.

And an

Arab-Muslim anti-Semitism

, which often comes along via the detour of criticism of Israel and is brutally present in these days.

As a result of the rocket attacks by the radical Islamic Hamas on Israel, this week there were anti-Israel and anti-Jewish crimes by Palestinians and other citizens with Arab roots all over Germany.

In Gelsenkirchen they shouted "Shit Jews" in front of the local synagogue on Wednesday evening.

The entrance to the synagogue in Bonn was damaged by stone throwing.

An Israeli flag was burned in front of a synagogue in Münster and in front of the town hall in Solingen.

For statisticians it may be relevant how the respective anti-Semitism is justified, whether National Socialist or Islamist.

The consequences for those affected, however, are the same:

Jews in Germany are living again in growing anxiety and fear.

It's staggering, but true.

And now to the question that Josef Schuster unfortunately has to discuss in Frankfurt today.

There needs to be

maximum vigilance from the authorities and tougher penalties

for any form of anti-Semitism.

Anti-Semites who cannot be deported must be withdrawn from circulation in this country.

For everyone else, anti-Semitic crimes should be a reason for deportation.

Especially from Germany.

End of hubris

The

FDP

starts

the election year

today with a

federal party

conference

in Berlin

.

At other times the party would probably have been there with a "candidate for chancellor".

Party leader

Christian Lindner

is content with the title of

"top candidate"

, even if

in surveys

his party is

currently only just behind the SPD

, which still bravely claims that its top candidate is a candidate for chancellor.

But the FDP has become more humble, the times of excessive hubris are (for the time being) a thing of the past.

This is not only due to the memory of

Jürgen Möllemann

and

Guido Westerwelle

.

But also because of the dropouts in the recent past: the

infantile flight from the Jamaica negotiations in autumn 2017

.

And the

election of the FDP man Wolfgang Kemmerich

as Prime Minister in Thuringia with the votes of the AfD.

In the pandemic, the FDP has recently been able to distinguish itself as an alternative to the government without having to resort to conspiracy theories like the AfD.

At the same time, it benefits from the weakness of the Union.

Participation in the government from autumn onwards would not do any harm to the successfully started rehabilitation program.

But for that the FDP, according to the state of the polls, would have to be open to an alliance with the Greens and the SPD.

That would be an impertinence, measured by old standards.

But certainly also an opportunity.

Dennis Aogo and the Cancel Culture

Dennis Aogo

gave a remarkable interview to my colleagues Benjamin Knaack and Thilo Neumann.

The former professional footballer and later TV expert had published a message on social media that he had received from former national

goalkeeper Jens Lehmann

, in which he called him "quota black".

The very next day Lehmann lost his position on the Hertha BSC supervisory board and also as a TV expert.

Aogo, who indirectly triggered these steps, believes the consequences are exaggerated.

The fact that Hertha Lehmann was expelled from all office so quickly, "even in the short time, I find it an overreaction," says Aogo.

“At least I would like to see dialogue and exchange in such cases.

But to say from the start that you don't want to have anything to do with it is not okay.

How do you say today?

That is cancel culture. "

Perhaps the episode Lehmann-Aogo should make you

think again

about the way in which

outrage debates are conducted in the present

.

And about the harsh consequences that they sometimes have.

  • Ex-national player Dennis Aogo: »It's extreme.

There were death threats and extremely racist insults «

Winner of the day ...

... is the traditional association (even if yesterday evening's winner is now a stock corporation).

With a

4-1 win by Borussia Dortmund

in the

DFB Cup final

, the first title of a pure product marketing construct in German football was prevented (the subtle name is not mentioned here in order to avoid the accusation of surreptitious advertising).

But now the Dortmunders have a problem.

Her equally sympathetic and successful coach

Edin Terzić

, who is also a real Dortmund native, will only be assistant coach of

Marco Rose

,

who is signed

by the seventh in the table,

Borussia Mönchengladbach

,

from the summer

.

This step should not necessarily make sense to the fans.
