The Colombians were the protagonists in stage 7 of the 2021 Giro d'Italia. 181 kilometers separated the start in Notaresco from the finish in Termoli,
in a flat fraction that was defined in the final sprint.
Fernando Gaviria attacked in the last stage but stayed a few meters from the goal and ended up crossing in sixth place.
Juan Sebastián Molano was tenth
in the stage won by Caleb Ewan.
It was a very uneventful day of competition in the Italian race.
From the beginning,
three cyclists (Simon Pellaud, Umberto Marengo and Mark Christian) staged a breakout
that managed to take 5 minutes ahead of the main batch, however, it was always controlled and with the running of the kilometers lost the difference.
With just over 15 km to go,
the peloton ran away and several teams took the lead,
but the attacks were neutralized.
Everything was defined in the sprint.
The sprinters, including Fernando Gaviria, threw themselves 500 meters from the finish and Caleb Ewan took the victory despite the Colombian's attempt.
Stage 7 classification

.
The UAE Team Emirates rider crossed the finish line in sixth position.
