Candidate murdered in Sonora and AMLO promises justice 4:11
(CNN Spanish) -
The president of the Institutional Revolutionary Party of Mexico (PRI) Alejandro Moreno denounced this Friday that the wife of Óscar Rosas González, that party's candidate for mayor of the municipality of Carmen, in Campeche, was the victim of an armed attack .
"Fortunately, neither Mrs. Viridiana Suárez nor any member of her team was injured," Moreno reported on Twitter.
He added: "We make an energetic call to the federal authorities to guarantee the safety of all the contestants, their families and all citizens."
Moreno did not give details of the attack against Suárez that he denounces in his networks.
Neither Rosas González, the Public Security Secretariat or the Campeche Attorney General's Office have commented on the incident.
They have also not responded to requests for comment sent this Friday by CNN.
The complaint arises hours after the murder of Abel Murrieta, former attorney for the state of Sonora and candidate for mayor of Cajeme for the Citizen Movement party, during an armed attack, according to the state prosecutor's office on Thursday.
