President Joe Biden on Friday revoked a series of controversial executive orders from his predecessor, Donald Trump, including a measure that made it difficult for immigrants to obtain visas who do not demonstrate sufficient financial solvency to pay for health insurance or medical care in USA.
"My Administration is committed to expanding access to quality, affordable health care," said the President, repealing the executive action implemented in October 2019 by Trump.
"
We can achieve that goal without prohibiting the entry of non-citizens who seek to immigrate legally to this country
but who lack significant financial means or have not purchased health insurance coverage," added Biden.
The president ordered the departments of State, Health, and Homeland Security to review and update the policies that allowed the implementation of Trump's measure, which he said "does not promote the interests of the United States."
Biden Advocates Congress Pass Immigration Reform This Year, Starting With Dreamers

Trump's measure was signed on the grounds that lower-income legal immigrants would become a burden on hospitals and taxpayers.
In November, before it took effect, an Oregon federal judge suspended it after a lawsuit against the Administration.
The plaintiffs alleged that the rule would be an obstacle for two-thirds of immigrants with the possibility of achieving legal status in the country.
The rule was aimed at people seeking immigrant visas or
green cards
from abroad
, not those already in the United States.
It did not affect legal permanent residents and it did not affect asylum seekers, refugees or children.
Biden has been under pressure to undo restrictive immigration policies adopted by the former White House tenant.
Upon taking office, the Democrat signed executive orders to defend the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and repealed the ban on travelers from Muslim-majority countries.
The president has pushed for an immigration reform proposal that remains stagnant in Congress, as Democrats and Republicans continue to have abysmal differences on how to tackle the problem.
The revocation of this executive action was not the only one signed by Biden this Friday to reverse measures that Trump unilaterally signed after failing to obtain the support of Congress, and that the Democrat has been undoing since his first day in office.

The president also reversed a move this afternoon pushed by Trump following protests against racism and police violence following the assassination of George Floyd to protect toppled Confederate monuments around the country amid
a cultural overhaul of the symbols. that entrench racism.
The measure instructed federal authorities to prosecute those who vandalized federal monuments and withhold funds from local governments that did not prevent the destruction of statues.
The Democrat also reversed a Trump initiative known as the National Garden of American Heroes.
