A drama about six dead rabbits takes place between Sabine Bals from Hechendorf and Dominik Greinwald, the operator of the "Rabbit Barn" in Polling.

The police are now dealing with this, and there are reports of mutual reports.

Polling - The story began on April 29th. Animal friend Simone Bals from Hechendorf (near Seefeld / Starnberg district) contacted Dominik Greinwald, whom she had become aware of through one of her colleagues. Her lion head rabbit gave birth to six cubs four days ago, but they could no longer be nursed by her.

Greinwald drove to Seefeld and diagnosed that the rabbit had no more milk - a threatening condition, since the animals could not build up a functioning immune system without the important first milk (colostrum).

Greinwald explained to the rabbit owner that the only chance the boys had was to put them on a wet nurse, i.e. a rabbit who was producing milk herself.

He just had a suitable rabbit and would take the young animals with him.

However, he emphasized that there was no guarantee and that the chances of survival for the boys were very low.

The boys' chances of survival were slim

According to information from both parties, Greinwald received 35 euros for the diagnosis and for taking the rabbits away.

Both agreed that Bals could inquire about the rabbits' health at 9 p.m. in the evening.

The Hechendorferin called half an hour beforehand, Greinwald told her he had no time now.

Up to this point the statements of those involved agree, then it becomes confusing.

Bals tried four times to reach Greinwald during the night.

“The rabbits are everything to me, my children.

I have no children myself and I was so looking forward to these offspring.

I can't eat, sleep, work, I'm just crying, ”she says.

The next day, Greinwald, who also has a job, finally got in touch and informed Bals that the nurse had been accepting the boys up to now.

At a certain point, statements differ from one another

The animal lover wanted to see for herself.

She asked a colleague to come to Polling in the evening, and one of Greinwald's employees showed him the rabbits.

When Greinwald found out later, he pointed out that you could only enter the premises in Polling with a registration and a negative corona test.

For the next two days, communication between the two was limited to a few messages per day. On May 1st, Greinwald Bals only announced that the boys were doing well. But after several inquiries from her went unanswered, Bals turned to the veterinary office two days later, which actually sent employees over. Greinwald reports that he had demonstrated how to put on the wet nurse and that the chances of the boys were very slim. "That has been assessed as correct by the official veterinarians," said Greinwald. Three of the animals were already dead at the time. District Office spokeswoman Erika Breu confirmed that two employees had checked the "Rabbit Barn" in Polling on May 4th and that nothing could be exposed to the keeping of animals under animal welfare law.

Alleged monetary claim leads to complaints

Because Greinwald did not inform the rabbit owner about the death of the animals until the next day - meanwhile the other three boys had also died - but immediately informed the veterinary office of Bals about it, the situation escalated completely.

Bals threatened to telephone the police that Greinwald had handed over the dead boys to her during a visit to Polling.

Then it gets wild: When she threatened to turn to the media, Greinwald asked what she wanted to keep silent about the matter.

She then wrote “1000 euros” on a piece of paper because she knew that Greinwald could not raise this sum - “I didn't want any money, I wanted him to get what he deserved”.

Greinwald, on the other hand, understood the monetary claim as a fact and filed a complaint with the police for attempted extortion.

Bals says she then also filed a complaint against Bals.

The press spokesman for the criminal police in Rosenheim, Stefan Sonntag, could only confirm that the case is being investigated - he did not want to give details.

The mayor is now involved in the case

Greinwald is dismayed by the case and how it turned out: “I just wanted to help the owner and the rabbit boys. I don't understand all the excitement, it was clear from the start that the boys only had a slim chance. ”Polling's Mayor Martin Pape is now also involved in the case, Bals had turned to him. He said that the matter would now proceed judicially between the two private individuals. He personally wishes that the village peace would return soon after the conclusion of possible legal proceedings.
