Romain Grosjean took his first pole position in his third IndyCar race, less than six months after his spectacular Formula 1 crash on Friday in Indianapolis.
The 35-year-old Frenchman finished qualifying with a fastest lap at 1 minute and 9.4396 seconds, aboard his Honda (Dale Coyne Racing team), and will start at the top of the Indianapolis Grand Prix on Saturday.

"It had been a long time since I had been so happy"

Grosjean arrived in IndyCar this year after ten years of F1, concluded by an accident last November in Bahrain.
He had managed to extricate himself from his burning vehicle 28 seconds after it crashed into a safety barrier at 220 km / h and was cut in half.
He had suffered serious injuries to his hands.
Mercedes recently indicated that the former Haas driver would perform a private test at the wheel of the Flèche d'Argent at the end of June at Le Castellet.
"Incredible", reacted the driver about his pole at Indianapolis.
“When I saw the (qualifying) group I was in, I was like, 'Oh, my God, if we can get out of the first group, it's going to be okay', and we did.
During the last laps, we were on the right track.
