(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 15 - The long-awaited swabs in view of the maturity and eighth grade exams will not be done, "they do not seem necessary and moreover they should be repeated in the various stages of the exams", while it is likely that the second dose of Astrazeneca will be postponed for teachers engaged as exams commissioners or that, if the second vaccination is still carried out, the teacher who has just received it can connect remotely to the exam session. These are some of the indications that emerged today during the confrontation between the school unions and the Ministry of Education in view of the renewal of the safety protocol for the high school and eighth grade exams. The meeting was adjourned for next Friday. In principle, the protocol will be installed in the same way as last year, has given excellent results, but there will be some adjustments: only certified masks will be used and not community masks (allowed in the protocol signed in 2020); the ventilation and purification systems in the rooms are not considered essential; ordinary, thorough cleaning is enough for sanitization.

The National Association of Principals has requested to provide for the possibility of having the plenary session of the commission of the final state examination of middle schools held remotely, if made necessary by the size of the commission and by the spaces available. The Snals asked that it be possible to carry out the exams via videoconference for fragile pupils; specific preventive measures for subjects outside the schools during the exams (commissioners, privatists, etc.); the possibility of remotely carrying out the preliminary and final meetings of the commissions. All the unions underlined the importance of also arriving at the signing of a Protocol in view of the Summer Plan, for which just today the Minister of Education has assigned to all schools, on the national territory, the 150 million allocated by the support Decree. Professor Alberto Villani, president of the Pediatric Society, in this morning's meeting with the trade unions, illustrated the results of a study on 1000 pupils and 100 teachers which highlights the absolute safety of the schools where the rules on distancing are respected and praised the great commitment of the teaching staff, "of which we must be proud".

"Words that give encouragement and gratification", underlined the secretary of the CISL Scuola, Maddalena Gissi.

In the meantime, the countdown has started: in fact, there is less than a month to Maturity 2021, whose start is set for Wednesday 16 June.

A period in which, traditionally, school is practically over for the fifth grade boys and one can concentrate almost exclusively on the exam. But this year there are many teachers who, even in the last year, are taking advantage of these weeks of face-to-face lessons to retrieve tasks in class and questions left behind due to Dad: for 6 out of 10 graduates the tests, according to a survey, are really too many.
