The cultural authorities of Mexico reported that they filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office for the auction that Sotheby's carries out of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican pieces in New York, since they are considered archaeological monuments.
As it was an open investigation, no further details of the case were provided.
CNN contacted the Sotheby's house to find out its position, without a response so far.
