Gabriele Albertini did not accept the candidacy for mayor of Milan for the center-right.
This was announced on his website www.gabrielealbertini.com after days of rumors, indiscretions and requests from the parties that make up the coalition.
"Unfortunately - he wrote today - I must communicate that for a series of personal reasons I cannot accept this generous opportunity offered to me."
Albertini was mayor of Milan for two terms, from 1997 to 2006. On today's choice, the former mayor had said in recent days that he would dissolve his reservations on May 15, "the day of the anniversary of my first oath as mayor ".
