Moosburg's commuters can hope: the continuous tunnel at the train station is becoming more concrete

The pedestrian underpass at Moosburger Bahnhof can only be used from one side.

That should change - and the plans are becoming more and more concrete.

Moosburg

- A continuous underpass under the tracks of the Moosburg train station is a long-cherished wish of many commuters and travelers, which is now being addressed.

A whole bunch of variants was presented to the city council on Monday - two of which are now being pursued.

The big question of principle is whether a ramp or an elevator should be built. Different variants were drawn, which are options with and without an elevator as well as with and without a ramp. The building management proposed the option to the city council of using a staircase and an elevator at the end of the underpass near Hopfenstrasse. This variant was practically undisputed.

3. Mayor Michael Stanglmaier (Greens) suggested keeping the option of stairs and ramps in the direction of Georg-Schweiger-Straße on the screen.

This variant has the advantage that handicapped accessible access is always available.

Stanglmaier thought of annoying situations for wheelchair users if the elevator should not work.

This should be checked further if the property conditions already make a ramp possible.

Mayor Josef Dollinger (FW) had previously announced that the city would have to pay for the underpass on its own.

No financial participation is to be expected on the part of the railway.

That was then the reason for going through the further procedure with two variants.

Now the costs of the ramp or elevator options are calculated and then the city council's discussion continues.

Update on the station building

Dollinger explained that after a few talks with the railway ("That was not encouraging") he assumed that the underpass could be put into operation in 2025. Gerhard Welter (AfD) wanted to know whether track 3 of the Moosburg train station could be lowered during the construction work for a possible barrier-free use with S-Bahn. However, the local chief declined the issue and made it clear that the city had no influence whatsoever. "That is the pure task of the railway," said Dollinger.

When Erwin Weber (CSU) asked about the status of the station building bought by the city, the town hall chief said that a new building as well as a renovation would be examined.

"As far as I am concerned, it amounts to a renovation," read the mayor's water level report.

A crucial question is that of the conditions that would be imposed on the construction of a new train station building.
