The government requires employees of restaurants and other listed premises such as karaoke to be inspected regularly every 7 days, and the construction industry has also called on workers in the industry to conduct regular inspections.

The Food and Health Bureau announced that the government will continue to provide free virus testing services for certain groups of people who have not been vaccinated. The service will be open until the end of June, and reservations must be made online.

Construction workers and local tour group staff must prove that they are unsuitable or have not completed the vaccination before they can be tested free of charge.

There was a long queue at the community testing center earlier.

The construction industry earlier voluntarily required construction workers to have a negative test result within 14 days before they can enter the construction site. The community testing center provides free virus testing services for construction workers, which has not been renewed after the end of last month.

A union once said that workers have to pay for testing.

The government announced today that it will continue to make appointments for free testing every 14 days for construction site workers who have not completed or are not suitable for vaccination. Public and private pool/beach workers, staff in certain hotels, etc., can also be tested for free.

However, starting from May 24, construction workers and local tour group staff must present a medical certificate that is not suitable for vaccinating the new crown vaccine, or provide a record of having received the first dose of the new crown vaccine before they can receive free testing.

If a restaurant wants to open up to 6 employees per table (that is, category C), it needs to complete the first dose of vaccination or perform virus testing every 7 days. Employees in listed premises such as bars and karaoke also have the same requirements.

The government also continues to make appointments for free inspection services for employees in the above-mentioned industries and hotel inspection staff every 7 days.

A spokesperson for the Food and Health Bureau pointed out that the free testing service provided by the community testing center will be open until the end of June, and an appointment must be made through the online system for free testing.
