Cai Yuling, the director of the Radio Television Hong Kong news program "Clang Collection", was convicted last month (April 22) of two counts of "false statements" involving inspection of vehicle registration records.
The report involved in the incident "Clang Collection: 721 Who Controls the Truth" was awarded the 12th Jin Yaoru Press Freedom Award, affirming the news value of the report and the team's efforts.
Reporters Cai Yuling and Zheng Sisi attended the awards ceremony today (15th) and delivered speeches on the awards. I sincerely thank the team for their efforts on the "Anti-Revision Campaign Series" and "721 Who Controls the Truth". They also showed their appreciation to the clang episodes on YouTube. Liu believes that Cai Yuling’s judgment reflects that the court has not considered reporting on the "public interest", and that public interest is an important value of reporters’ reports. Cai is encouraged to appeal the case and speak out for the press.
