Third in the regular season, the players of Basket Landes, with in their rank the French legend Céline Dumerc, won the first title of champion of France of the young club from Mons by beating in the final Montpellier 72 to 64, Saturday in Bourges.

Club founded in the early 2000s, Basket Landes has climbed the ranks one by one, participating for the first time in the Euroleague this season after the renunciation of ... Montpellier a year ago because of the health crisis and in due to economic and financial uncertainties. The daughters of Julie Barennes are rewarded with this title, at the end of a season spent almost exclusively behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They will return to the Euroleague next season, just like Montpellier qualified thanks to its coronation in the Coupe de France.

In a hooked final, Basket Landes was launched by his French back Valériane Vukosavljevic, who scored the first 10 points for his team (16 in the final).

Also known by her maiden name, Ayayi, she won her fourth title of champion of France with a fourth club after Montpellier, Villeneuve d'Ascq and Bourges.

Hard-wearing at almost 39 years old (July 9), Céline Dumerc has once again shown herself to be decisive: silent for 38 minutes, it was she who scored her first (and only) basket, a three points that allowed Basket Landes to widen a gap of seven points less than two minutes from the end (63-56, 38th).

"Beyond the Imaginable"

The two teams then traded the winning shots in the final two minutes, with Vukosavljevic for Basket Landes responding to Migna Touré. And it is "Caps" who managed the last possession of the ball, fourteen seconds from the end while the coronation was assured, to make the most of these last moments, and her seventh title of champion of France (six with Bourges in the years 2000 and 2010).

"It's barjot, it's barjot!", She launched in the middle of her teammates, while
