Occupied Jerusalem - SANA

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on his US counterpart, Joe Biden, to intervene to stop the continuous Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

Wafa news agency reported that Abbas briefed his American counterpart during a telephone call today about the Israeli occupation’s attacks on the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem, the West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of more than 160 Palestinians and the injury of thousands in addition to the terror of settlers in Jerusalem and the West Bank and the attack on worshipers in the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque And prevented them from access to the mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and attempts to seize Palestinian lands in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Abbas indicated that stability will be achieved in the event that the Israeli occupation of the lands of the State of Palestine ends with Jerusalem as its capital, stressing the Palestinian side's readiness to work with the International Quartet to achieve a settlement based on international legitimacy decisions.

In turn, Biden said that the United States is making efforts with the concerned parties to "achieve calm" and opposes any unilateral measures such as settlement and displacement of Palestinians from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and east Jerusalem, pointing to the need to preserve the "status quo" on the Temple Mount.
