Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed today that his country will continue to support the just cause of the Palestinian people in order to restore their legitimate national rights.
According to Xinhua, Wang stressed in a phone call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi today the need for a just solution to the Palestinian issue, noting that in recent years, "Security Council resolutions have not been implemented seriously, especially the violation of the Palestinian people's right to build an independent state."
Wang pointed out that China, which assumed the rotating presidency of the Security Council in May, pushed the Security Council to hold two sessions of emergency consultations on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and prepared a press statement in an attempt to push the Council towards taking actions in this regard, adding, “But unfortunately the council has failed so far in Reaching an agreement with the United States standing on the opposite side of international justice.
Wang indicated that his country will host an open meeting at the UN Security Council on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories tomorrow, calling on the council to assume its responsibilities towards the suffering and calamities of the Palestinian people and make effective efforts to maintain regional peace and security.
