The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care services continued to decline to drop below 4,300, the number of hospitalizations as a whole also continuing to decrease, according to figures from Public Health France on Saturday.

Critical care services (which bring together resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring) now have 4,271 Covid patients, including 134 new admissions in 24 hours, against 4,352 on Friday and more than 5,000 last Saturday.
This figure has been declining almost continuously since the high point of 6,001 reached on April 26 (higher than the peak of the second wave of autumn at 4,900 but below that of the first wave in April 2020, around 7,000) .
The total number of hospitalizations for Covid also continues to decline, with 22,950 patients on Saturday, including 580 new hospitalizations, against 23,406 the day before.

This improvement in indicators is accompanied by an acceleration of the vaccination campaign, with the bar of 20 million first injections reached.
According to figures from the Directorate General of Health, 20,086,792 people received at least one injection (i.e. 30% of the total population) and 8,805,345 people received two injections (i.e. 13.1% of the total population and 16.8% of the adult population).
The disease has claimed 112 people in hospital in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 107,564 since the start of the epidemic (including 81,257 in hospital).
15,685 new contaminations were also listed on Friday.
The positivity rate (number of positive tests out of the total tests performed) is still down to 4.5%.
It was still 10% at the end of April.
