The nightmare Saturday does not end in River.
The ten confirmed cases of players with coronavirus in Marcelo Gallardo's squad were joined in the last hours by three other headlines and a substitute who presented symptoms compatible with Covid-19 and tested positive after undergoing emergency swabs.
There are already 14 casualties.
As Clarín was able to find out, the three starters
are goalkeeper Franco Armani, midfielder Agustín Palavecino and forward Matías Suárez
, who had been among those called up for the Superclásico that will be played this Sunday, from 5:00 p.m., at the Bombonera.
All three were set to play starters in the quarterfinal clash of the Professional League Cup.
Benjamin Rollheiser will also be out.
In the particular case of the arch, it is the most worrying issue for Gallardo, who will have to turn to Alan Leonardo Díaz, a 21-year-old boy who is a substitute in the Reserve and who already suffered from coronavirus in September 2020.
Díaz was born on January 22, 2000 in Lanús and has been in River since 2007, after his arrival from the Ateneo Club in his city.
He has been sitting on the bench in the third division for 17 games, in which he has not yet made his debut.
He was part of the runner-up squad of the Copa Libertadores Sub 20 that was played in Paraguay in 2020 and has a past in the Argentine Under-17 team with which he played the South American of Chile 2017
The cases of Palavecino, Armani and Suárez, who this Saturday morning had raffled the test, are added to those of Paulo Díaz, Federico Girotti, Enrique Bologna, Germán Lux, Robert Rojas, Nicolás De La Cruz, Rafael Borré, Bruno Zuculini , Tomás Castro Ponce and Franco Petroli, who had already been discarded at noon.
River's squad to play this Sunday against Boca will be made up of just 12 players.
