A popular court of 12 Tunuyán residents has just ruled that the death of the Mendoza businesswoman Norma Carleti (59) was a homicide on the occasion of robbery that was instigated by the ex-husband, businessman and former UCR senator Leandro Hisa ( 61).

It was

the first trial by jury in the Uco Valley

, one of the main wine-growing and wealthy areas in Mendoza.

It was the hardest time for the jury to reach consensus.

They were 14 hours of deliberation between Friday and Saturday, for the juries to agree.

The 12 citizens chosen at random were encapsulated by a police custody and spent Friday night in different rooms of a downtown hotel in Tunuyán, so that nothing could influence what the sentence was.

Norma's ex-husband, Leonardo Hisa, lost more than 30 kilos in jail and was given a home address.

Now, after the conviction, they ask that he return to a prison.

The verdict was known after noon this Saturday.

Leonardo Hisa was found guilty as the

instigator of the crime of aggravated homicide by the bond

for price or remuneration promise and femicide.

The Guerrero family, a father and two children who were Hisa employees, were convicted of the murder of the woman on March 5, 2018.

Kevin Guerrero (25) and his father Juan Carlos (52) were found guilty as primary participants in the crime of aggravated homicide for price or remuneration promise.

They will also be sentenced to life imprisonment.

In the case of the youngest of the brothers, Alexis (21), he was convicted as a secondary participant in the crime of robbery with homicide.

The prosecutor Fernando Guzzo asked that he be granted the minimum penalty for this crime, which is 10 years, considering his youth and that he had no prior record.

Regarding Hisa, the Prosecutor's Office asked that he be detained in a prison complex

and that the benefit of home detention be revoked to avoid the risk of escape.

Norma was murdered at her home in Tunuyán, in what appeared to be an attempted robbery, which later led to the arrest of her ex-husband.

Norma Carleti and her ex-husband, the radical leader Leonardo Hisa from Mendoza.

A police officer who testified at the trial claimed to have seen the Guerrero brothers flee the house within minutes of the brutal attack on the woman.

But, from the beginning, for the victim's family, all clues led to the ex-husband.

And his suspicions gained momentum with the arrest of Hisa, accused of being the "mastermind of the murder, aggravated by the link," which now leads him to a life sentence.

The couple was in a troubled divorce stage.

On the same morning that she was murdered, Carleti had planned to go and report him for economic violence, according to what she had told her lawyers.
