The Starnberg City Archives are looking for contemporary witnesses with such memories for a historical project.

“The respondents are recorded on video which is later to be used for a historical project.

Starnberg

- The individual contributions should be two to three minutes long, ”said the city about the project. Anyone who can contribute memories should contact the city archive by telephone on (0 81 51) 4 46 26 58 or by email at stadtarchiv@starnberg.de. As a small thank you, participants receive Volume 9 of the Starnberg City History Series on building and settlement history.

The Pellet-Mayer inn stood exactly where the Starnberg City Market (SMS) is today on Josef-Jägerhuber-Strasse. The SMS was planned in 1977, it was completed in 1979. The Pellet-Mayer inn was the first new building of a representative inn in Starnberg in the 19th century and was at times the post office of the express car from Munich to Weilheim. The innkeeper at the time had Maximilanstrasse adapted so that it led directly to his inn and its beer garden - this visual relationship has been maintained to this day. At times the inn had a guest house in Kempfenhausen, where King Ludwig II. Richard Wagner stayed in 1864. Starnberg's first cinema was in a side room of the Pellet-Mayer. The building was demolished in 1971.
