Crèches and daycare centers in a state of emergency: emergency care or regular operation? This applies from an incidence of 100

Everything currently depends on the incidence - including childcare.

The situation in Bavaria varies greatly: while there is emergency operation in Miesbach, all children are allowed to come back in Starnberg.

Munich

- Monika Blöchinger cannot remember when her kindergarten was last in regular operation.

"With brief exceptions, we have been in emergency care mode since December," says the director of the Straß kindergarten in Miesbach *.

Yesterday the incidence there was 154, which is why only children whose parents cannot ensure this otherwise, for example in private groups, are allowed to be cared for.

Only when the incidence falls below 100 can kindergartens and crèches * switch to "restricted regular operations".

Then all children will be looked after on site, but in fixed groups.

In the Straß kindergarten, the garden has been divided up with fences so that the children don't mix while playing.

Only when the incidence * is below 50 should the groups come together again.

Corona in Bavaria: the 165 mark only applies to schools - not to daycare centers and crèches

Until then, the everyday life of everyone involved remains anything but normal: "We educators have ourselves tested twice a week and wear masks," says Blöchinger.

In contrast to schools, there are no compulsory tests for children here.

If a child has a cold, it must first test negative again in emergency care.

In the case of hay fever, a doctor's certificate gives access.

“Fortunately, our parents are very responsible,” says Blöchinger.

She understands everyone who has had to look after their children for months while working from home or with smaller siblings: “Compared to the beginning of the year, significantly more parents ask whether they can take their child to emergency care for a day or two are allowed. “Many of them reach their professional limits.

Your childhood sick days have been used up.

Therefore, Blöchinger plans new registrations every week.

Because of the fixed groups, your team is always on site.

"Many shy away from taking a vacation," says Blöchinger.

Nobody wants to let their colleagues down if the incidence falls.

Because when all the groups come, there are new problems: “All the children that we settled in in autumn were only there for a week.

With them we will then practically start all over again. "

Corona: Emergency operation in Miesbach - Limited regular operation in Starnberg

The time has come in the Starnberg * district.

Yesterday the 7-day incidence was 55.6.

"We have been in restricted regular operation for two weeks now," says Gabriele Bödewadt.

Even if the incidence should soon fall below 50, the head of the Maria-Kempter Kindergarten in Starnberg will voluntarily stick to the concept of care in fixed groups: “This means that caregivers and playmates remain the same for the children.

They are simply too young for permanent change. ”From a social point of view, however, the teacher finds it important that all children can finally be“ among children ”again.

Even if the danger for the educators increases with full occupancy - and the barrier tapes remain in the garden.

In both Miesbach and Starnberg, the educators try to keep the children as normal as possible despite everything. Although singing is still forbidden in Starnberg, birthday children are still allowed to bring cakes with them, provided they have been baked in the oven. The educators then distribute it on plates and serve it.

For educators, parents and children, it is important to persevere.

In the primary schools, in contrast to the daycare centers, regular operation takes place up to an incidence of 165.

In the afternoons, elementary school students are allowed to visit the day-care center in regular operation.

This is justifiable because school children are tested regularly and the distance rules can be better applied, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

In the daycare centers, however, the 100 limit will continue to be held until suitable test options * are available for daycare and kindergarten children.
