A child was killed and four people were injured, including two seriously, in a gas explosion that destroyed two houses in Heysham (north-west England) on the night of Saturday to Sunday May 16, announced the police.

We remain at the scene of a suspected gas explosion (...) which caused the collapse of two houses and severely damaged a third,
" Lancashire police said, called to the scene at 02:40 local time (01:40 GMT ). “

Residents of this residential street were evacuated, according to the same source. “
My wife and I thought it was an earthquake that woke us up, the whole house shook,
” Dan Knowles, who lives a few blocks from the disaster, told the Press Association. Electricity distributor Electricity North West said it had cut off the power supply as a precaution.
