When you score, you proudly dedicate your ball to it, like after a hat-trick in an important football match.

In the Pyramides district, in Evry-Courcouronnes (Essonne), the “Evry skylight” has become an attraction.

In this period of curfew, the clubs had to close their doors and the field of sports activities was reduced.

Boredom won, so the creativity of the neighborhoods struck.

Residents of the Pyramids created this challenge which consists of putting the ball in the small window of a local garbage can, across the street.

The window had a monster notoriety the day Gayson, known as “the Old one”, succeeded on the first try.

The feat has been filmed and broadcast thousands of times on social media by his brother, Malason.

We were among the first to tell the story.

Then, the television channels followed one another to tell the story of a small skylight who became a star for a day.

"We absolutely did not talk about politics at the skylight"

Jean-Philippe Dugoin-Clément, the mayor (UDI) of Mennecy, a town located fifteen minutes from Evry-Courcouronnes, is the first elected to have attempted the challenge.

“The

Elder's

brother

works at Mennecy town hall,” explains Jean-Philippe Dugoin-Clément.

He suggested that I try the trick.

It happened a bit overnight.

"

On site, Thursday afternoon, the mayor is entitled to his three tests.

Without really believing it.

"I did a little football, but it was ten years since I had not hit a ball, tempers the elected.

On the second try, I put it on!

The atmosphere is super nice.

When a lady arrives with groceries, the kids stop, open the door for her.

Better if the young people hit the ball here rather than do anything else.

The video has already been "liked" nearly 40,000 times on Twitter.

🙏🏻 Thanks to the Lucarne d'Evry for the welcome!

In the midst of the regional election campaign, the operation looks like a well-conducted communication coup.

"This is not my canton or my constituency, sweeps Jean-Philippe Dugoin-Clément, vice-president of the Ile-de-France region and candidate (LR) for regional on the list of Valérie Pécresse.

It is not at all a campaign stage.

Moreover, we absolutely did not talk about politics at the top, that would have been unwelcome.

"He came respecting the barrier gestures, he put down his ball and he scored," smiles Malason.

For the past month, everyone has wanted to try their luck at the skylight of Evry.

Any form of originality in the success of the challenge is therefore welcome.

Sometimes, we place a wall of “little ones” from the neighborhood (one of which lies down on the ground, for more realism) in front of the shooter to increase the difficulty.

On April 27, “Gigi”, a local footballer, is the first girl to pass the challenge.

Pierre Bouby, former professional football player, took up the challenge.

The rapper from Hauts-de-Seine, SDM, with millions of views on YouTube, also came to rub shoulders.

Just like the perfect anonymous, including this little boy who came from Créteil (Val-de-Marne) just to tempt her.

The movement reached other neighborhoods, where everyone wanted to have their own “skylight”.

It could be a garbage can, a cavity in a wall, a pizza delivery crate, a lone shrub in a home garden.

Rappers come up to the challenge

Last week, when a photo showed police cars posted in numbers in front of the window, we thought it was over. Rest assured, the skylight is safe: the police were intervening in the neighborhood for a completely different reason. The local agents even see the initiative rather favorably. Evidenced by a video dated late April where a police officer who passes the Pyramids recognizes and greets "the Elder" by defying him. “They told us that they wanted to try, but that they were not equipped, especially in terms of shoes,” says Samir. The skylight is serious business: this Friday, a visitor who came to try his luck was equipped with stabilized crampons to shoot.

And this Saturday, despite a gloomy weather, the skylight was still full.

It now has its own codes.

To welcome visitors, Malason now organizes mini-matches of 10 shots between an inhabitant of the Pyramids (also called “The Temple”) and a challenger.

Visitors are greeted with a glass of "degué", an African specialty made from yogurt.

In Evry, aiming at this skylight with a soccer ball unleashes passions

With a whistle, Malason authorizes the shooting according to the passage of the cars and harangues the public made up of children on the stairs.

The shots stop: you have to shift the fabric that has just fallen at the foot of the skylight.

"The neighbor puts it on his balcony to feed the pigeons, and it often falls, it has become a gri-gri," says Malason.

The rapper from Melun (Seine-et-Marne) SenSey ', who came to try his luck this Saturday, leaves with a defeat 1 to 2. “He played in a club, it feels…”, comments a youngster. “Friday, we had our first defeat, admits Samir, alias Mirsa. We have only one defeat. We hope to welcome pro players when their season is over. "The" Temple "has not finished dreaming.
