Wolfratshausen - The corona virus did not affect the efficiency of the sewage treatment plant in Weidach.

The board of the Isar-Loisach Group wastewater association announced this good news at a committee meeting of a female mayor and five mayors from the six association communities of Icking, Wolfratshausen, Egling, Dietramszell, Geretsried and Königsdorf.

The electrotechnical and structural modernization of the UV system is still necessary. "The technology of the UV system, which was put into operation in 2003, absolutely has to be renewed, since the procurement of spare parts is becoming more and more difficult," said AV managing director Lorenz Demmel. He referred to a disturbance that had led the association to three voluntary reports to the district office and water management office in July 2020. The damage could be repaired with a provisional spare part. A renewal of the programmable logic controller and a new conception of the intake structure are, however, indispensable. "Currently the treated wastewater collects behind the sand filter and is fed intermittently through the UV system," reported Demmel. This has the consequencethat the tubes do not immediately have the radiation output for optimal disinfection and that the UV tubes are more heavily stressed.

For the renovation of the UV system, the head of the wastewater association, Dr.

Manfred Fleischer with total costs of around 235,000 euros.

The committee unanimously approved this investment.

Roof renovations on garages, workshops and a company building as well as concrete renovations on sand traps, primary settling basins and joints are also required.

When asked by the mayor of Königsdorf, Rainer Kopnicky, Lorenz Demmel stated that the cost of all renovations was around 1.8 million euros.

Geretsried's town hall chief Michael Müller asked about current corona cases.

Demmel then reported that an employee actually fell ill with the virus last year and was then released for six months.

The subsequent follow-up of contacts and the cooperation with the health department of the district office was not always easy for the wastewater association. "We are glad that we did not have any more cases after that, and we continue to pay strict attention to all hygiene rules," assured Dr.

Manfred Fleischer in conclusion.
